Celebrating 10 years at Bengalla

Bengalla’s annual community open day was extra special this year as the site celebrates 10 years of operations.

More than 1,000 people from the local Muswellbrook community attended the open day on November 15, and more than 570 people took the opportunity to go on a tour of the mine and meet the team, ask questions and view the operations first hand.

Bengalla general manager operations Andrea Sutton said the 10 year anniversary was a community-wide celebration, with a number of competitions run in the lead up to the event including a colouring-in competition for kids and a “where were you in 1998” competition.

“As well as these fantastic competitions, the Muswellbrook Local and Family History Society helped us put together a "Back to the Future" display of Muswellbrook and its surrounds showcasing the past 10 years of the region,” Andrea said.

“We also had a range of activities for the whole family, including a mini rugby league clinic run by the Newcastle Knights who were also on hand to sign autographs, and a free sausage sizzle expertly cooked by the Muswellbrook Apex Club.

“It was a great community event, with local groups and businesses coming together and providing assistance and entertainment for the open day for the benefit of the entire Muswellbrook community.

“Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make the family day a great success.”
