Employees on level eight east tower of the Brisbane office are being encouraged to use natural light during the day in a bid to reduce energy use.

They can still put the lights on as required, using a zoned lighting system introduced earlier this year by the climate change team.

General manager External Relations Fiona Nicholls said simple changes such as these are helping to combat the effects of climate change by minimising our carbon emissions.

Rio Tinto Coal Australia has again decided to donate to a community initiative instead of sending out Christmas cards.

The initiative will focus on road safety to help keep families in our communities free from harm on our roads this holiday season.

Employees will be informed about the details of this year’s Christmas donation via the weekly email.
