December 2008
Employee profile - Kerry Mudge
At just 24, Blair Athol Mine’s environmental graduate Kerry Mudge has the world at his feet.
A member of the graduate programme, Kerry joined Rio Tinto Coal Australia in 2007 and hasn’t looked back, pursuing every opportunity possible.
“I have just returned from completing a three month secondment with the climate change team in Brisbane where I worked on some key elements of the Rio Tinto Coal Australia climate change action plan,” Kerry said.
“After finishing university I wanted to work in an organisation where I would be exposed to diverse projects but also for a company that is an industry leader when it comes to climate change and environmental management.
“Being part of the graduate programme has provided me with opportunities to broaden my skills in some challenging, different roles within various departments ranging from catching koalas in Central Queensland to brainstorming climate change solutions in Brisbane.
“Every day is different and that is what I love about my job; I never know what I am going to be doing next.”
