Bengalla to celebrate 10 years

Bengalla celebrates 10 years of operations in 2008, and is holding a community open day at the Muswellbrook Showgrounds on 15 November to celebrate.

The celebrations are going to be extra special for employee Skye Pemberton-Shaw, who is part of a group of employees that started with the company in August 1998, the date the site commenced blasting operations.

As Bengalla’s longest serving employee, project accountant Skye has seen her career grow and expand over the past 10 years at Bengalla – starting on reception to studying part time to complete her accounting degree. 

“One of the things that sets Bengalla apart is its attitude towards career development,” Skye said.

“The mine supported my decision to complete a university degree and offered me flexible working conditions after having children.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating our milestone with the rest of the team, and with the Muswellbrook community.”
