December 2008
And the winners are...
The annual Rio Tinto Coal Australia safety calendar competition attracted more than 50 creative entries this year from the children of our employees.
Members of the Health, Safety and Environment teams, who judged the entries, said the drawings carried a broad range of safety messages, making it challenging to select the winners.
Congratulations to the following children, whose drawings will appear in the 2009 safety calendar:
| Name | Age | To me, being safe means... |
| Damon Lock | 3 | Wearing big boots when I help my Dad |
| Alice O’Toole | 3 | Staying inside when there’s a storm |
| Parker Munro | 4 | Asking Dad what bugs I can touch |
| Luke Matt | 6 | Playing in my yard, not near the road |
| Thomas Crossley | 6 | Wearing my hat and sunscreen when I play sport |
| Felicity Gersbach | 6 | When boating wear a life jacket |
| Cody Garmeister | 7 | Always wearing a seatbelt on a plane |
| Takaylah Francis | 7 | Never leave kids home alone |
| Chloe Jackson | 8 | Slip slop slap |
| Abigail McGovern | 10 | Watch what you’re doing |
| Rebecca Davis | 10 | Wearing protective gear when mowing the lawn |
| Denni-Elle Macguire | 11 | Staying safe at school |
Thank you to all the families and children who got involved in the competition, which helps us bring home our focus on safety.
